Ginger Leigh Rios

Gone in the Blink of an Eye

At around 4:00 p.m. on the afternoon of Friday, April 4, 1997, twenty-year-old newlywed Ginger Rios walked into a popular store located in a strip mall in Las Vegas to look for a particular book. After waiting several minutes for her to return, her husband Mark went looking for her.

When he approached the couple working behind the counter, he was told that Ginger had already paid for her purchase and left. Although their words lacked the ring of truth, he had thanked them and gone in search of his wife.

Acting under the assumption that Ginger had decided to check out one of the nearby shops without telling him first, Mark visited the neighboring businesses to inquire if they had seen the striking brunette. When his efforts proved fruitless, he called his father-in-law, George, and informed him that Ginger had apparently vanished into thin air.

A level-headed man if there ever was one, George suggested that they return to the spot where Ginger was last seen, a sketchy establishment called Spy Craft. With their sights set on viewing footage taken from the store’s security cameras, they headed to Maryland Parkway to confront the manager. Unfortunately, upon their arrival, they found the doors locked and a “Closed” sign in the window.
