Linda Elaine Sobek

The High Price of Fame

On Thursday, November 16, 1995, model and aspiring actress Linda Sobek received a call from a freelance photographer offering her an afternoon of work. Never one to turn down a chance to add to her already impressive resume, she had readily accepted the assignment. In her eagerness to reach the top, she had broken her own cardinal rule: let someone know where you’re going and who you’re with at all times. It would be an oversight that would cost her dearly in the end.

Although she was only twenty-seven, Linda was already a show business pro. Having spent several seasons as a cheerleader for the Los Angeles Raiders, she was comfortable in her own skin, whether it be in front of a crowd of thousands or a lone photographer.

When she made the decision to pursue a career in modeling, Linda knew that it wasn’t going to be easy. Standing at a diminutive 5'3, she realized that she would never be hired to show off the latest fashions on the catwalk. Even so, with her striking good looks and proportions, she made for an ideal print model, better known by some as a pin-up girl.

She had a lot on her plate on that fateful day in November. Besides the last- minute modeling gig, she had also landed an audition for a guest role on the popular sitcom, Married With Children.
