The Body

On the evening of February 18, 1985, a passerby stumbled upon a charred human body that had been discarded along a roadside in Vernon County, Wisconsin. The remains, which were missing a head, were taken to the medical examiner’s office for autopsy. While no definitive manner of death could be determined, it was clear that the victim, who was soon identified as twenty-four-year-old Terry Dolowy, had suffered an unnatural death.

The Search for Answers Begins

A look into Terry’s background revealed that she had gone missing four days earlier, on Valentine’s Day. Retracing her steps, homicide detectives learned that she had worked until closing at the high-end Piggy’s Restaurant where she was employed as the bar manager. Upon returning to the mobile home she shared with her fiancé in the early hours of the morning, it’s believed that Terry had taken her beloved poodle Suzie for a walk before bedtime.

When her fiancé awoke a few hours later, he realized that Terry’s side of the bed hadn’t been slept in. After looking around and finding the front door ajar and no sign of Terry or Suzie, he…
